About Me:
Italian, holding a Master's degree in Computer Science received from the University of Bologna in 2003. My Master's thesis and early research work was focused on Educational Technology.

My interest on social networks, mobile communication and social implications of the Information Society started with my collaboration with the Helsinki Institute of Information Technology in late 2003 and then with the internship in Finnish operator TeliaSonera.

Since June 2005 I am a full time Ph.d student in Cognitive Science at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The "hot" keywords of my Ph.d. are "Mobile Social Software" (MoSoSo) and "Social Capital". The main idea is to find a user-centred methodology to design mobile social services supporting social capital, thus societal development.

In January 2007 I have published in Italy my first book: "Mobile Communication. New frontiers, between consume, collaboration and control of digital contents", Ed.Cierre, 2007. I am now looking for printing houses interested in an English translation.

My personal opinion is that most social networking services presents the paradox of using the social networking feature to offer services oriented only to the individual and not to the community (or network).
In addition, the user is often seen mainly as a consumer and not as a citizen of the Information Society (although the social web has changed a little this way of thinking...).

The findings of this study indicate that the… Continue
